Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Hello, my name is Anye Mae and I am a 6 year old, 16lb, terrier mix. No idea what the “mix” is and no idea what the “terrier” is, to be honest (other than a breed group!) With my most recent haircut I have a bit of a schnauzer look, don’t I? Everyone says I am cute as can be. My full name is fancy, but my friends just call me Annie. Of course, it takes me a while to make friends. Once I am settled in, I am a very nice little dog. But that will take a while. It took me a month to be a nice girl at my foster moms house. We guess it will probably take about that long one I’m adopted, too. Don’t you worry – the people at Rescue Rovers have all the best advice and support for you. But that first little while will probably be kind of rough. See, I learned a long time ago that when I bite at people, they don’t make me do stuff. People keep telling me that’s a naughty girl thing to do, and I’m trying to change. Most of my bites are based in fear. Stuff is scary when you’re a little dog. I’m going to doggy school and learning to be more confident. I need a mom or dad who will keep teaching me that I am safe and that I can do hard things. I need someone who will be patient with me, but who won’t baby me. There are tools you will likely need to use (a muzzle) that might be scary for you, but will keep us both safe. My foster mama will tell you more about all that stuff if you apply to meet me. Now for the good stuff. I am beautiful and have a very nice, super low shed coat. I love my crate and will happily hang out in there and watch the world. I am house trained and know how to use a dog door. I am good on leash and I like car rides, too. I love to play with toys and can keep myself entertained I am good with other dogs I like to snuggle I live with a 5 year old little boy who I have been very good with, too. HOWEVER – my “warm up period” is extremely applicable when it comes to children. I am actually the sweetest, loviest girl once I feel happy and safe with you. I really can’t wait to show that side of myself. If you think you might be the right person to love me forever, I would really love to meet you. Apply today at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
