Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Schnauzer / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. Meet Toby! Toby’s journey hasn’t been easy. Confiscated by HPD and left in the shelter from February 26 to March 6, nobody came for him. This sweet boy suffered severe neglect—he had significant hair loss from fleas, painful skin infections from constant scratching, and bilateral ear infections. But Toby is a fighter! He’s been receiving the medical care he desperately needed, including medications, preventatives, and ongoing treatments for his skin and ears. With love and patience, he’s making a great recovery. Toby wears a belly band in the house but always willing to go outside to potty. Toby loves being where ever YOU are. He loves to be with his people. Toby is a loyal and affectionate companion who deserves a second chance at a happy life. He thrives in a calm environment and would do best in a home without young children. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
