Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher. To complete an adoption application, click here: /forms/form?formid=5879 Luna is the sweetest girl, with the saddest story. She was used as a breeding momma and sadly her last litter of puppies passed away in utero and had to be surgically removed. Thankfully she is doing well after surgery and doesn't let the past effect her. Luna is not safe around small animals as she has a pretty high prey drive. Luna is tolerant of other dogs with proper introductions but does prefer all of her people's love to be on her. She is doing well potty and kennel training but she does need to be in a heavy duty kennel as she can get out of normal wire kennels. Luna has met kids and has done well with them! Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
