Description
Dog Breed: Norwegian Elkhound (long coat). We are thrilled to be able to give a happy and positive update on Cody! After four weeks in a foster home, this sweet boy has been through surgeries to help him feel better, and he definitely is on the road to being well-rounded and ready for a permanent home. Thanks to the wonderful advice of one of the vets who advises us about our shelter pets, Cody‘s eye was removed, he was neutered, a mass was removed on his side, and the questionable rectal mass that caused him issues during potty time was also removed. He has made a full recovery, stitches have been removed, and he is now fostered in a home with other dogs where he has fit in and is really loving having a male human as a companion. You see Cody was signed over to us after the loss of his human dad, and we think he was very close to his dad. He has perked up immensely now that he gets attention from a man, and we are hoping that his new home can provide him with a male companion as well. If you’re looking for a house trained, happy boy who loves having a yard to explore, is not overly demanding, appears to ignore cats in the house, and gets along with other dogs, please consider Cody! Cody visited Dr Hoss today. To get right to the point here’s what needs to happen: Because his left eye suffered trauma at some point and his eyelid has rolled under rubbing it until it is blind, he needs to have that eye removed. The mass in his anal area that we thought might be a prolapsed rectum is actually a growth that can be removed at the same time he is neutered. It’s not going to be easy for a 10-year-old dog, but if all his blood work looks good we will go ahead with the surgery. Prayers and good thoughts for Cody, please! He is housetrained, may be a bit hard of hearing, seems fine with other dogs around him, and LOVES to ride! Perfect companion!
