Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $350. Available for adoption! Jarrett (fka Cherry) is now available for adoption! This guy is such a big lover and is looking for the love and care he was missing out on in his former life. A concerned citizen got him to a shelter when they found him tied to a pole. He had some very rough looking skin and fur and was underweight when found. He has been getting the TLC he deserves and is doing great! Jarrett is around 2 years old and 60-65 lbs. He has good house manners and is crate trained, house trained and knows “sit.” He also rides very nicely in the car and takes the opportunity to nap. He loves toys but destroys almost all of them so only durable toys with supervision and bones for this guy. He is dog-friendly and has been great in his foster home with many other dogs. Jarret also walks well on leash but could use some training when he sees other dogs. He is friendly and just wants to say hello but that means he doesn’t want to walk again until they have passed. We know this can easily be improved with some training. He is a little too interested in playing chase for kitties in his forever home. Jarrett is an all around love bug! He really enjoys human affection and will gladly come to you for pets and scratches. He can usually be found napping near his person when he isn’t playing or chewing on a bone. We are recommending a home where all humans are teenagers or older. Sometimes he does the pibble nibble and gives you a little love nibble when he is really enjoying being pet. This sweet boy seems to have some allergies and sensitivities, as a lot of bully breeds do. He is on a special food that has helped his skin and fur condition improve. He is a happy, sweet and wonderful boy deserving the very best home! If you are interested in him please email us at almosthome4dogsyahoo! (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
