Description
Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Ruger! Affectionately known as Rugie, this approximately 12-year-old Chihuahua mix is looking for a loving forever home. Rugie is a total snuggle bug and incredibly affectionate with his foster mom. He thrives on attention and loves being the center of the party. When Rugie first arrived in rescue, he was unsure and spent the first two weeks hiding in his kennel. But with time, patience, and plenty of treats, he’s blossomed into a social and friendly little guy. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and would do wonderfully with a companion dog. Rugie is mostly potty trained—he occasionally has accidents overnight but does well with a potty pad. He loves to play with his stuffed toys and is genuinely a happy little dog. He’d do best with adults or dog-savvy kids who can respect his space when he’s feeling unsure. He absolutely LOVES walks and being outside. In fact, if he could spend all day in a fenced yard soaking up the sun, especially in hot weather, he would! Rugie seeks out warmth and is often found curled up on a dog heating pad or basking in a sunny window spot. At night, Rugie enjoys snuggling in bed with his humans. Despite being around 12 years old, he has the energy and spirit of a middle-aged dog—playful, peppy, and full of life. He loves toys, walks, and even tries to engage other dogs in play. Ruger is a sweet, affectionate little guy who’s ready to bring joy, cuddles, and companionship to a family of his own! Ruger is from a local shelter.
