Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix male puppy Check out Spencer! We recently adopted out his brother Zachary, and sisters Wilma, and Xena Spencer is a young, male Queensland GSD mix. Stellar combo, we've had many and he's proving the theory. Great mix! Spence is a very nice puppy. At 6 months old, he is still very young. And just like his sisters and brother, he smart, sweet, obedient, balanced. Spencer is fabulous with all the dogs. He is on the deferential side. Not pushy at all. Very respectful and backs away from any conflict. He wants none of that! He's using my dog screen and completely polite in the house, and he loves being in the house. Right now, he is just the best hiking and trail buddy! Spencer is going to be a perfect family dog! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
