Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Hound / Mixed. Meet Cricket!! This beautiful lady is a 2 year old plott hound mix weighing 55#. She’s a sweet girl that was adopted from us as a pup, but returned to rescue after tragically losing her owner. Cricket is good with other dogs and kids that can respect her space. She was very timid when she came back to us and has been working with a trainer and doing wonderfully! She would do best in a quiet home as that’s what she’s used to. Cricket is house trained and crate trained. She absolutely loves toys, so lots of toys are a must! She’s doing good on leash and with her manners too! Looking for the perfect home for this beauty and to help with her transition, Paws will pay for 2 training sessions with River Run Training where she was training! Do you have room in your heart and home for Cricket? Please share het post!! We have applications online at pawsacrosspittsburgh/adopt

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
