Description

Dog Breed: Beagle / Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Rocky, the senior chihuahua beagle mix. Rocky is a senior but still has plenty of pep in his step to join someone on their daily walks! He previously lived with another dog around the same size and coexisted nicely. He also has attended small dog playgroup at the Shelter. Any resident dogs should meet prior to adoption. Rocky has experience living with children as young as 6 years old and did well. Rocky spent a good amount of time outdoors in his previous home and will need some patience and reminders at potty training. Adopters should plan on being patient in the transition and working with Rocky through positive reinforcement based training. Good news, old dogs can in fact learn new tricks! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
