Dog Breed: Shih Tzu / Mixed. Ellie Justice Update: Your New Best Friend in Training (and Snacks)! This sweet, gentle and loving girl came to us in April 2025 a hot and stinky mess. She was suffering from a gnarly skin infection that her previous owner could not manage, but fast forward 4 months of lots of TLC from her foster mom and our amazing veterinary team, Ellie is healed and finally on the market and ready to find her forever family! She is a 7 year old Shih Tzu, weighing in around 12 pounds. Ellie is fully potty trained, great with kids, friendly with other dogs, and even gets along with cats (though she might try to playfully chase them!). She&#39s also a dream on leash and enjoys car rides--perfect for those weekend adventures or quick errands. Ellie doesn&#39t love being in a kennel, but the good news? She doesn&#39t need one! She&#39s completely trustworthy around the house when left alone and isn&#39t destructive at all. While she&#39s still figuring out how to play with toys and other pups, she&#39s trying her best and would really benefit from having a dog sibling to help show her the ropes. This snack-loving girl especially adores blueberries and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. She&#39s a low-key goofball with a big heart, and she&#39s happiest when she&#39s near her people (or when snacks are involved). A few things to know about her care: Ellie has chronic dry eyes and needs daily eye drops to keep them comfy. She also takes a daily dose of Apoquel for itchy skin, which keeps things under control. Her ears can get itchy too, but an ear rinse helps soothe them. The cost for her eye drops, ear cleaning solution, and Apoquel medication is ~$60/month. Regular grooming is a must--she&#39ll need baths every two weeks or so to keep her feeling fresh and happy. Ellie is looking for a patient, loving home that&#39s willing to keep up with her care needs and help her continue learning how to just be a dog. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment).
