Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300. Meet Shakshuka! This adorable little dish is full of spunk and ready to bring some flavor to her forever family’s life! Shakshuka is a terrier mix whose mom weighs about 25 pounds, but since dad’s identity is a mystery, her adult size is anyone’s guess. Raised in a loving foster home since she was just a few days old, Shakshuka has been well-socialized with dogs, cats, and kids. She’s a brave and curious pup who loves to explore, try new things, and make new friends wherever she goes. Shakshuka is just beginning to learn her puppy basics—like potty training and leash walking—but she’s a smart cookie and eager to please. With a little time and consistency, she’ll be a pro in no time! If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky sidekick, Shakshuka might just be your perfect match. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
