Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Received as a pup from freind in April of 2022. He lives indoors with my family and I, (a 15 yr old, 1 dog (f), 1 cat (f). He loves the members of his pack, is excited to meet people, and is house trained. Is protective of food and gets fearful of children that he doesn't know. Needs owners who know how to manage his strong instincts and impulses, large size, and headstrong breed. Does not tear anything up. Well behaved but gets excited to see you when you first come home. Pulls on walks but calms down after about half a block. Nervous during vet visits. Makes a great and loving companion but owner must take care and be mindful when meeting new people and during chow. **** Breed: Pittweiler **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2185961&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
