Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Chinese Crested-Hairless / Mixed (short coat). I AM FROM A HOARDING SITUATION AND WILL NEED TIME AND PATIENCE FOR ME TO ACCLIMATE TO MY NEW HOME. I am 7lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Sanders – Small, Special, and Still Learning Sanders’ story is one of survival and slow transformation. Rescued from a hoarding situation, he came to us with little to no positive experience of humans. He is essentially feral, and while he has made great strides in the shelter, he still has a long way to go. Sanders cannot be leashed or picked up, and he tolerates only limited, gentle petting on his own terms. He is a bite risk when frightened or handled in ways he’s not ready for. Because of this, he needs an adult-only home with an experienced, patient adopter who understands shy, fearful dogs and is committed to a long-term trust-building journey. What Sanders does love is the company of other dogs—he’s gentle, very dog-friendly, and takes comfort and confidence from canine companions. He must go to a home with another calm, kind dog to help guide him as he continues to learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Sanders is not for the faint of heart, but for the right person, he will be a deeply rewarding project—a tiny soul slowly learning to bloom. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals or how large puppies will be when fully grown. We look forward to seeing you soon!
