Dog Breed: Husky / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (short coat). Ducky (A137459) is an 8-month-old husky mix who weighed nearly 40 lbs at intake! 08/11/25 Ducky is back at the shelter after a brief adoption. His adoptive family felt that he was not a good fit for their family due to his high energy. Ducky was stated to jump up on people as well as furniture. They felt he would do best in a home without small children due to his energy and lack of basic manners. We strongly encourage his next owner to bring him to a basic obedience class to continue working on his manners and helping him find productive ways to expend his energy. He was stated to be kennel trained and housebroken while in their care but does not necessarily alert his owner when he needs to go outside. Ducky was also stated to chase after cats (which was previously mentioned). Ducky would do best in a home without smaller critters that he may be tempted to chase. Please ensure you are always making appropriate introductions with new animals. Ducky was said to be excited to meet new people while in his last home but can be vocal. He is a young dog looking for an owner who can be patient with him and help him become his best version of himself. Please keep in mind that he is a high-energy dog, so he is looking for a home that can provide him with plenty of appropriate outlets to keep him happy and out of trouble. He was described as a “very very energetic” dog! Huskies are a high energy breed and he is looking for a home that can keep him both mentally and physically stimulated. He may enjoy learning how to bikejor/skijor or be a running buddy! Ducky has not met new people outside his home setting. He has no experience around children, strangers, or other dogs. He was said to have a playful spirit around cats (but really likes to chase them). He may do best in a home without smaller critters that he might be enticed to chase. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new animals. Ducky would highly benefit from attending a basic obedience class to continue working on his manners. He does know the command sit but also likes to jump on people. Ducky was also said to be housebroken and is pretty good at alerting his owner. Their dad was said to be a husky x German Shepherd mix, while mom was said to be a Romanian Raven Shepherd, a type of livestock guardian breed. These puppies have grown up around other dogs, including their parents and a smaller breed dog, as well as cats. They were also said to do well with the children in the home, but it should be specified that they were older children. These pups are still within their socialization window, so they are really a blank slate! Puppies are a lot work and enrolling them in a puppy class can help set them up for success!
