Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Sumo has been a wonderful companion since we got him from a breeder at 8 weeks old in 2021. He will be 4 this year (2025) and his neuter is scheduled. Unfortunately he is not adjusting well to our infant daughter. This manifested itself in aggression towards my senior Pomeranian which led to us rehoming her. For this reason, we are keeping him and my daughter completely separate which means he can no longer snuggle with his humans on the couch or sleep in our room. Sumo has no bite history towards humans or dogs, but I would recommend he be the only dog in a home with older children (10 and up). He has a history of reactivity towards other dogs. He is a true couch potato and is fine up to 10 hours a day alone. No counter surfing or jumping up of any kind. He walks decently on a leash. Fenced in backyard preferred. We just want to find our buddy a calm and loving home where he can get all the snuggles and attention he deserves. I can provide more details as requested. **** Breed: Mastiff **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2186709&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
