Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Dachshund / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Michael, a Miniature Pinscher/Dachshund mix born approx 11/5/23. Michael has made tremendous progress since coming to us. He's opened up and although cautious, he's willing to cuddle and flop on his belly for strokes for his favorite people. Not everyone is his favorite. He will stealthily avoid you if you're not on the list yet. He does however idolize his favorite people. You will be snuggled all night, followed and cuddled into on the couch forever once he decides you're ok. He is such a lover. He makes little cooing, grunting noises when he's super happy and when he wakes up and to get his morning strokes. He is still a timid dog, that won't change and will require some patience at first. It may a take a while for him to let you close, but he will relax if given some time and he warms up much more quickly now around people he knows but may not see often. He's going to be at his very best in a calm and quiet home. He's fine around children but just very scared of the sudden noises and all the stroking hands. For this reason he'd be better in a home where someone is home alot, with no children and low foot traffic. He also thrives with another dog to take cues from. He really needs a buddy. He's so happy playing, cuddling and hanging out with our resident small dog. He also loves our big resident dog too, there's just less playing! He still needs to work on taking his treats gently, he tends to grab and run but is not possessive and does not resource guard. He is a shoe thief, so an ample supply of chew toys and a closed closet door are musts for new home. He's learned how to walk on his leash and just loves taking long walks. He's only small but can go quite a distance. There are just so many good smells out there! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
