Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Marshall – Your Scruffy, Sweet Sidekick Marshall is a 4-year-old, 15-pound mixed-breed cutie with the perfect blend of charm, gentleness, and playfulness. With his adorable scruffy coat, peppered spots, and white "boot" paws, he's as photogenic as he is lovable. This little gentleman is crate-trained, house-trained, and walks politely on leash. He's an affectionate lap dog who also enjoys short bursts of play — tug-of-war, soft wrestling, and chasing toys. Marshall has a medium energy level, so he's equally happy going for a short walk or curling up for a cozy nap. Marshall gets along beautifully with other dogs (he currently lives with three) and cats (four feline roommates). He's gentle with people and loves belly rubs, though he can be a little shy at first, especially with high-energy kids — but once he's had a good sniff, he's all in. He's come a long way from his past life of being chained outside, and now he's ready to enjoy the love and comfort of a real home. Whether he's lounging with his foster family, greeting you excitedly when you return home, or quietly keeping you company, Marshall's calm, loyal nature will warm your heart. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
