We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Mavis is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. At 12 years old, Mavis is approaching her senior year. She has a grade 2/6 heart murmur that does not require any medication to manage. She has a grade 1 luxating patella in her right knee that is not recommended for surgery. She had one eye removed due to a chronic, long-term ulcer that would not heal so we finally opted to remove the eye and stop the pain. At 12 years old, Mavis is all things senior girl! She is wise, loving, low-maintenance, and deeply devoted. She is not looking for adventure or wild play dates; instead she is looking for a calm, quiet home where she can snooze and relax peacefully, follow her favorite human around, and be the gentle little shadow she was born to be. Mavis does great with leash walking and potty training, and doesn't mind if there is another dog in the home - but keep in mind, with her age and energy level, she is not looking for a play mate. She is truly just all about her person. Mavis's favorite place in the world is directly underneath you, especially if you're sitting still long enough for her to nap nearby. Mavis does have some minor separation anxiety and she will whine if you are away for more than 2 hours. She is not suitable for an apartment or town home for this reason, unless you are a retiree, remote worker or homebody who doesn't mind constant company and taking your canine companion everywhere with you! In return, you'll get endless devotion, soft eyes watching your every move, and the coziest companion you could ever ask for! So if you have a peaceful, quiet space, Mavis is ready to curl up beside you and call it home! What is my personality like? Mavis has a true heart of gold! She is very easy to please and laid back. She enjoys the simple things in life like cozy beds, soft treats and belly rubs! She thrives in a calm, peaceful environment that she can live out the rest of her golden years in. Mavis finds comfort in your presence and just wants someone to spend time with her. Her only need in life is food and a human companion! Mavis is soft, sweet and deeply attached. She is also extremely gentle, affectionate and sensitive to your mood - like a little emotional support dog wrapped in white fur. She will be perfectly content being an only dog as she is very mature and is retiring from the play life! Mavis is looking for a lap. She will not be placed in a home where adopters are away more than they are home. How do I act when I first meet new people? Mavis is a social love bug, and it does not take her long at all to warm up to new people! The key to her senior heart is a piece of colby jack cheese! She is a foodie at heart and will welcome anyone into her life that has a tummy treat to offer! Some cheese and some but scratches will have the two of you bonded in NO time! Other tips and tidbits: My estimated birthday is May 26, 2013! I am a senior girl! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
