Please be sure to contact shonnajenay1985gmail for more information. Meet Charlie, part of our sweet litter of 8 Shepherd mix puppies—4 boys and 4 girls—rescued from a difficult hoarding situation. They were born June 15, 2025 and are now 9 weeks old, each weighing just about 2 lbs. Their mama, a 10-year-old Shepherd mix, is finally spayed and safe, and now it’s her babies’ turn to find loving families. Sweet, snuggly, and oh-so-loyal, Charlie Boy is the cuddlebug of the litter. While his siblings are busy wrestling and playing, Charlie would much rather be curled up next to his human. He’s a little more needy and affectionate than the others, and he’ll happily follow you everywhere just to be close. Charlie is independent in his own quiet way, but he doesn’t like to be left out—he feels most secure when he’s near his person. He is extremely smart and eager to please —already learning sit, routines, and household boundaries. He’s crate trained, nearly potty trained, and picking up manners quickly, like staying out of the kitchen during mealtimes. Whether it’s sitting by your side, napping against your feet, or sleeping right next to you, Charlie just wants to be part of your world. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
