MUGSY (NOT YET AVAILABLE) - PEKINGESE (MEDIUM COAT) DOG FOR ADOPTION

NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 8/21/2025: Mugsy - male - 17 (questionable) years old - 11.14 pounds - Pekingese Reason for intake: Mugsy was surrendered to Caddo Parish Animal Control for euthanasia. Animal control posted him online trying to find a rescue because they didn't believe he was ready for the Rainbow Bridge, nor did they believe he was 17. We were tagged in the photos and videos. We reached out and took him in. While Mugsy is a senior dog, we believe he is more like 13 years old or so. His teeth are in amazing shape. He does have some arthritis going on, but he walks great and even trots sometimes. He does give kisses! He's such a sweet boy... sad that someone thought animal control was the place to have him put down. I think people believe it's like a vet clinic and there's a vet in the back waiting with a needle. That's NOT THE CASE. Your dog may linger for days... even weeks... in a LOUD shelter and in a kennel with other dogs... competing for food... awaiting euthanasia day and then the landfill. Keep in mind, we partner with Bossier City Animal Control and they are not like CPAS... so don't compare the two. I am thankful, though, that CPAS did see a spark in this old man and posted him for rescues to help! Anyway, Mugsy has to get a few things done at the vet and we will post him for adoption! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.
