Dog Breed: Unknown breed. IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT Meet Kenny! Kenny is 2 years old, male (approx. DOB 5-1-23), 46 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered and micro-chipped. This handsome sweet outgoing boy knows commands: Sit, Shake, and Lay Down! This bouncy, goofy boy is full of life and love. He greets you with joyful energy and can't wait to play, explore, and enjoy some tasty treats. Kenny is enthusiastic about everything, whether it’s fetch, tug-of-war, or a hot dog reward. He’s still working on leash manners, but once he's had his zoomies, he calms down for a walk and enjoys attention, so he may be best with older kids. Kenny is ready for an active family who appreciates his quirky charm and adventurous spirit! He assessed well with other dogs (would be best with a similar energy and play style), may be ok with cats (all cat and dog relationships are different), and greets every human with a tail wag! Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
