Dog Breed: American Bulldog / Queensland Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Bowie – the black and white mixed breed puppy. Bowie came in as a stray and had lots of zest. To help him channel his puppy energy for good – he has been hanging out in a foster home that can meet his needs a bit more successfully than a Shelter environment. His foster reports that Bowie is very sweet… kind of dopey. His mouthing is typical for his age and strength. When his foster parent redirects him to a toy or remove themselves during spurts of puppy mouthing – the unwanted behavior decreases. Bowie is coexisting nicely in a home with three other dogs – two senior dogs and another juvenile. He enjoys playing with the other puppy and is learning to respect the senior dogs in the home. He sits really nicely when he wants attention and has learned to sit with a hand signal. Bowie also likes to play in sprinklers and in water! He has also been gentle in his treat taking. Bowie would thrive in an adoptive home with a resident dog who is looking for a little brother of a puppy. Could that be with you? This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
