Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. A FUN & BUSY PUPPY: Approx. 3 months old / Approx. 20 lbs. & growing Hi there, I’m Shelby! I’m a bouncy little puppy who came from animal control, and now I’m at Mostly Mutts getting ready for the best part — finding my forever family! I can’t wait to play, learn new things, and bring lots of wiggles and puppy kisses to my new home. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I did well with the male dogs, but I got nervous and scared around females — I may show my teeth or try to hide. I’m still learning, and will work on this a bit more, so check back to see how I’m doing. If you have a nice male doggie that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! If you have a female dog, let’s meet with a trainer present. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a precious little pup who’s already showing how sweet and smart I can be! I sat so nicely for my bath and was called a total doll baby for being such a good girl. I’m still a young one, so I can be a bit mouthy and vocal at times, but that’s just me learning and figuring things out. Everyone says I’m going to grow into a truly great dog with guidance from my new family. / Energy level: Approx. 5-7 though this could change as I grow up. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer! So far, I know the ‘sit’ command and I look forward to learning lots more! I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / I’m doing pretty well with my crate manners at Mostly Mutts though I don’t want to spend a lot of time in a crate as I’d rather be with my people. / Like most young puppies, I’m still working on potty training, so I’ll need guidance and consistency in my new home to help me master this skill. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love the volunteers, playing, going for walks on the Mostly Mutts property and I’m sure we will learn lots of other things we like doing together! / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
