Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $350. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! This sweet 4-year-old pup is looking for a new forever home due to a recent change in her family’s situation — and she’s ready to bring lots of love into the right home. Maisey is about 50 lb of pure affection. She’s great with other dogs and very snuggly and loving with her people. She prefers the company of adults, but is also fine with calm, respectful kids. Maisey thrives in a quiet, low key environment - she’s a bit skittish and would prefer a home without lots of hustle and bustle. She’s on 10mg of fluoxetine daily for anxiety, and takes allergy meds as needed. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion to share quiet days and cozy nights, Maisey could be your perfect match. Email almosthome4dogsyahoo to learn more or to meet miss Maisey! (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
