Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Border Collie (medium coat). Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix female puppy Welcome Oreo. This little 6 month old cattle dog / border collie or McNab mix was found wandering a casino parking lot alongside her two siblings (both of whom have been adopted). Some good Samaritans saw them and went looking for hours for a possible owner. Nothing. They took them home, got them vetted, and reached out to us for assistance. They couldn’t bear the thought of dumping them at the shelter, despite the finder being fairly allergic to dogs. Here is what Oreo’s fosters have to report. Keep in mind they have had this dog for a few months, they know her well: “Oreo will be perfect dog for the right family! She has so much personality! She is super energetic. Loves other dogs, kids, and has no preference regarding male or female (dogs and humans). She absolutely loves the water! She has been spoiled with misters running on a timer. She stays close to water and she lives and breathes luxury in a plush bed. She loves to run and jump! She has the cutest tail wag that goes in a complete circle when she’s really excited! She also happens to have a perfect black heart on her chest. Her coat is so pretty. She has mastered ‘sit’ (treat in hand of course) and she is ready to give me her paw.” She is UTD on vaccines and spayed. Located in Fresno, CA. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
