Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (medium coat). Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY. Bobby has been an absolute delight to foster so far. As a Belgian Malinois puppy, he’s got a ton of energy and a brilliant mind. He picks up commands quickly and already knows “down” and “kennel” We’re still working on “sit” and “stay” but he’s definitely making progress. On walks, he’s generally good on the leash, with just a bit of room for improvement. He’s also super friendly with other dogs, loves to play rough, but takes corrections well from other dogs! When we go out, he’s surprisingly calm and sticks close by, showing that he can self regulate and take breaks when needed. Overall, he’s a wonderful pup who just needs the right amount of mental and physical stimulation.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
