Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (medium coat). Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY. Bobby is the bigger and more confident of the pair. He’s a sweet boy who is still discovering the big world around him. While he may be a little shy at first, he quickly shows his friendly, affectionate side. Bobby enjoys playing with toys and romping around, and he plays very well with his sister. The two of them give each other nice corrections when appropriate, though they’re still too young to be paired with other dogs just yet. Right now, he tuckers out pretty quickly, but as he grows, he’ll gain plenty of energy for adventures and fun activities. He’s also very smart and eager to learn, making him an excellent candidate for training!

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
