Description
Dog Breed: Pekingese (long coat). Apollo is a little white and cream pekingese puppy, born 5/15/25. He has ACA (American Canine Association) registration papers. He was born in a commercial kennel, then consigned to a dog breeder auction as a potential stud dog. Instead, he was purchased into rescue so he can learn to be a loving pet rather than spending his life in a breeder's pen. He is a very shy puppy and will need a lot of lap time and gentle handling to get over his fear of people. Since he is so shy it would be best if he go to a home without very small children. Older kids are fine. He is good with other dogs. He is microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and wormings and flea/tick prevention, and got a good vet check. He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces on 6/29/25. Because he is too young to neuter, he will be placed with a neuter contract. When proof of surgery has been received, adopter will be mailed a rebate check for $50.00 His adoption fee is $450.00 If you would like to adopt Apollo, email me at thistle88centurytel and request an application.

Overview:
The Pekingese is a captivating toy breed with a rich history, originating in ancient China where they were revered companions of royalty. Known for their distinctive "lion's mane" and rolling gait, they possess a compact, sturdy body covered in a long, profuse double coat that requires regular grooming to prevent matting. Their most recognizable features include a flat face, large, dark eyes, and a short, broad muzzle. Temperamentally, Pekingese are brave, independent, and surprisingly dignified, often displaying an affectionate but not overly demonstrative loyalty to their owners. They adapt well to apartment living due to their small size and relatively low exercise needs, though they do enjoy short, supervised walks. While generally good with older, respectful children, their independent nature means they might not be the ideal choice for boisterous family environments. Health-wise, their brachycephalic (flat-faced) structure makes them prone to respiratory issues and heatstroke, so vigilance in warm weather is crucial. Overall, the Pekingese is a charming and unique companion for those seeking a devoted, somewhat regal lapdog.
