Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Meet Boulder! This adorable hound mix pup was born around August 10 and is growing like a weed! He’ll be a medium-sized dog when fully grown, and while his nose might be a little bigger than average, it only adds to his irresistible charm. Boulder is a typical happy, playful puppy who loves being by his people. He enjoys his walks, sleeps through the night, and is both crate trained and almost fully potty trained—if there’s ever an accident, it’s usually because his foster didn’t let him out quickly enough! With his sweet nature, easygoing personality, and eagerness to please, Boulder will make a wonderful companion for a family ready to continue his training and give him all the love and playtime he deserves. The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
