Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Zeus is a wonderful partner! He's calm and happy, loves meeting new people, and enjoys car rides. He's super easy to take on outings. On a recent trip to the park, he hopped into the car with just a little help and took a nap on the way. Once there, he was friendly and affectionate with everyone he met, including men and young children. He rolled over for belly rubs and leaned into people for booty scratches. He was calm about the little boy who followed him around and wanted to chase the clods the child was throwing for him. He had a nice walk in the mud, stopped to smell the flowers, and then wiped his feet in the grass for the ride back to the shelter. On the way back, he enjoyed another nap. Zeus would be a lovely addition and fun playmate for a family with children. Please visit the shelter to see for yourself. Email adoptyoloshelter to arrange a meeting. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
