Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Kirby is a happy little guy (he’s 46 lbs but looks less). He’s mostly chill, super friendly, easy to handle and loves other dogs, people and kids. H e’s awesome with female dogs and can be selective with male dogs. He gets the zoomies every now and again in the yard but is otherwise calm. Super easy to walk on leash with a collar or harness. He is crate trained and almost fully potty trained. He is treat motivated, loves to play with/chew on his stuffed animals and so far knows sit (working on other commands soon). His ears will require cleaning once or twice a week to keep them healthy. He’s small so could work well in a variety of housing types/living situations. He rides well in a car and is easy at the vet. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
