I'm Raksha, the newest star to grace the shelter's stage, and I'm ready for my close-up. Just like a seasoned Hollywood actress, I bring an easygoing charm that'll make you fall in love faster than a summer blockbuster romance. My natural charisma and laid-back personality mean I'm always ready to be the leading lady in your life's story - no drama, just pure, delightful companionship. Think of me as the Jennifer Lawrence of the dog world - approachable, down-to-earth, and utterly lovable. I've got that effortless cool that makes everyone want to be my co-star. Whether we're lounging on the couch or going for a casual walk, I promise to bring star quality to every moment. So, are you ready to cast me in the role of your forever companion? This girl is ready for her big break, and I guarantee our story will be an award-winning adventure! I am full grown at ~65 lbs. How did I get here? Transferred from Johnston County Animal Shelter after being surrendered there because my owner was moving and could not bring me along. ~My adoption fee is waived thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization.~ Many adoptions will take approximately 1 hour or more. Adoption requirements and tips to speed up the adoption process: Please be able to provide a valid photo I.D. with your current address (If your I.D. does not reflect your current address, bring a piece of mail with your name and address on it) Be able to prove that you are allowed to have a pet where you live (proof of home ownership or a copy of your rental lease including the specific pet policy) Bring along all members of your household, including dogs for an introduction to a new dog. However, we do recommend meeting with an adoption counselor before involving children in the pet selection process. To avoid longer wait times, we strongly recommended that dog-to-dog meetings take place after 1:00pm. Participate in adoption counseling process to learn adoption guidelines and adoption options. Adoption Fees: Dogs & Puppies: $115.00 Cats & Kittens: $95.00 Rabbits: $50.00 Adoption fees include: Basic wellness exam, first vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, deworming and flea preventative. All cats and kittens have tested negative for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). All dogs and puppies have received heartworm preventative, and dogs/puppies over the age of six months have been tested for heartworms. All rabbits are spayed or neutered. Siberian Husky

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
