Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (long coat). Klassy Kouture was pulled from a local shelter. She's a highly affectionate little girl but can be very cautious around new people. As such an adult home or a home with older children is recommended. She does well on a leash, but loves to run around the fenced yard as well. While she's shown no signs of reaourcr guarding while in foster care her former owners indicated she resource guards food, toys and treats. Klassy was great for her 1st bath in foster care and very patient when we had to groom her due to the severe matting. She bonds very easily and loves to be with her people so we would love to find her a home where someone is home more often. Interested in adopting me? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
