Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever. Lucky is a full-grown Lab mix with a heart as golden as her name. Rescued just two days before her scheduled euthanasia, this gentle girl truly lives up to her name--and she's ready to find her forever home. Spayed and fully vaccinated (including lepto and bordetella), Lucky comes with a solid foundation in basic training: sit, stay, come, place, down, and heel. She's low-energy and incredibly chill, content to lounge on her bed all day as long as she knows you're nearby. Her ideal day includes a cozy nap, and maybe a walk or car ride with her favorite human. Lucky is affectionate, goofy, and full of charm. She'll win you over with her silly yoga stretches, quirky sits, and love of back rubs. While she's working on her separation anxiety, she thrives in a calm, loving environment where she can feel safe and close to her people. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's already trained, endlessly sweet, and just a little bit magical--Lucky might be your perfect match. If you feel your home might be the right place for such a great dog - the place to start is with the adoption application found at .dfwrescueme/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you promptly to tell you more and to arrange a time to meet! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Lucky is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
