He loves to get out some energy playing with his friends (dogs or humans), but he’s just as happy to be by your side. Ralph is looking for a home where his loving personality can shine. Ralph loves everyone. Kids, dogs, cats, everyone. Ralph loves to get attention from new people and will often walk right up and roll over to show his belly. He has fun meeting new dogs, especially if they want to run around with him. Ralph has lived with cats in his foster home and respects their boundaries well. He’s been great with the 7-year-old in his foster home and would likely do well with kids of any age. Ralph’s favorite activities include playing tug, running after toys, and just hanging out with you. Ralph is house- and crate-trained. He’s crated consistently during the day and overnight and settles in quickly. Ralph loves to go on walks and hopes his new family will take him on lots of strolls. He’s a fast learner and would enjoy learning new skills and tricks in his forever home. Ralph is an affectionate guy who can’t wait to bring love and laughter into his new home. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
