Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog. Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites. Felix was abandoned with 6 other dogs in a wire crate. They escaped and eventually all were rounded up and brought to safety. He's made a ton of progress with his foster family. He tends to follow the cues of other dogs so he will need another dog in his new home. It took him a while to go to his foster parents on his own for attention and affection but he got there. His foster says this about him: Felix is a sweet, playful little guy once he warms up to you. He was kept on a leash initially, until he was comfortable in his new place. Now that he has acclimated, he plays, climbs on and snuggles with his fosters. He's doing great with potty training and crate training. His new family will need to be able to give him grace at first but once he settles in and acclimates, he will be great! We are requiring a securely fenced yard for this dog, no exceptions. Please be sure you are capable and ready for a dog like this if you do apply for adoption. Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
