Description
Dog Breed: French Bulldog. Meet Hamm Hamm is a special boy with a gentle soul and a rough past. He came to us as a stray from Killeen, and while he’s still learning to trust, he’s shown us just how much love he has to give when he’s feeling safe. This shy guy is quirky in all the best ways — he likes to perch on high spots like a cat, has a bit of anxious energy, and absolutely loves other dogs. In fact, he would do best with another confident dog in the home to help show him the ropes and keep him company. He’d do best in a home without cats, as he gets a little too interested in them. Hamm is doing well with crate training, and while he’s still decompressing, he enjoys quiet cuddles and being close to his people once he warms up. Because of his sensitivity, we’re recommending a home with no small children. He recently had surgery for cherry eye and is continuing to heal both physically and emotionally. Breed experience is required, and Hamm will need a patient, structured, and understanding home that’s committed to helping him build confidence at his own pace. If you see the magic in shy dogs and love a good underdog story, Hamm just might be your guy. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.

Overview:
The French Bulldog, affectionately known as a "Frenchie," is a charming and compact companion breed originating from England, later popularized in France during the 19th century. Known for their distinctive "bat ears" and sturdy, muscular build, they possess a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors and patterns. Despite their somewhat serious expression, Frenchies boast an incredibly affectionate and playful temperament, making them excellent companions for individuals and families alike. Their relatively low exercise requirements and adaptability make them particularly well-suited for apartment living. However, prospective owners should be aware of their susceptibility to certain health considerations, including breathing difficulties due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure, as well as spinal issues and skin allergies. With proper care and attention, a French Bulldog can bring years of joy and loving companionship.
