Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Mocha is a beautiful, affectionate pup born around Christmas 2022. She’s been part of our family since March 2023 and has been spayed, fully vaccinated, and professionally trained through a local program. Mocha is incredibly smart and eager to please — she learns fast, listens well, and loves to make her people happy. She’s gentle, affectionate, and enjoys walks, playtime, and cuddling up for snuggles. She rarely barks (thanks to her training and a gentle vibrating collar) and is highly motivated to follow commands. Like many pitties, Mocha has a sensitive stomach, so she does best on 4Health Salmon & Sweet Potato food. She also has mild seasonal allergies that cause occasional paw licking; a medicated bath twice a month keeps her comfortable and happy. Mocha is current on all vaccines, heartworm tested, and enrolled in an autoship program for flea and heartworm prevention. She’s used to being an indoor dog but loves outdoor time — she’s happiest when she’s part of family life and has space to run, play, and be loved. Mocha would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention, with a confident, experienced owner who can continue giving her the structure and guidance she’s used to. She’s a wonderful, loyal girl who will make an incredible companion in the right home. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
