Description
Dog Breed: Rottweiler / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Chevy (A140281) is a 1-year-old Rottweiler x German Shepherd who weighed just under 60 pounds on intake! 11/13/25 These goofy boys are Chevy and Grizz! They were surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of their own and were described as awesome dogs. They were said to do great with people of all ages including babies and children. Chevy and Grizz were also described as friendly towards other dogs, but we have noticed at the shelter that they have not always been thrilled with dogs that are nearby. Making slow, safe, and controlled introductions is very important in helping set these boys up for success. They have no experience with cats, pocket pets, or livestock. Chevy and Grizz were stated to be housebroken, ride well in a car, and know their basic commands. However, they are both young boys who would benefit from attending a basic obedience class to continue working on their manners. They were said to enjoy playing and cuddling! If you are interested in meeting Chevy or Grizz, please let us know!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Shepweiller, a robust crossbreed stemming from the German Shepherd Dog and the Rottweiler, originated from the desire to combine the intelligence and trainability of the former with the strength and loyalty of the latter. Physically, they are large, powerful dogs, typically boasting a dense, short to medium coat in black and tan, or solid black. Their temperament is generally confident, protective, and intelligent, making them excellent guard dogs and loyal companions. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strong will and protective instincts. While incredibly devoted to their families, their size and exercise needs make them less suitable for small apartments; a home with a fenced yard is ideal. As with many large breeds, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, and they may be prone to certain cancers, so regular veterinary check-ups are important for their long-term well-being.
