Cook is the perfect dog for a family that is looking for a companion who will be devoted and yet adventurous, one who wants to snuggle on the couch, yet go out and play in the yard. Their coat can vary in color and texture, often reflecting the common hues of both parent breeds. Temperamentally, Bassetdors are known for being affectionate, loyal, and generally good-natured, making them excellent family pets. While adaptable, their moderate energy levels mean they thrive with regular exercise and may not be ideally suited for very small apartments without sufficient outdoor activity. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from both sides, such as hip and elbow dysplasia from the Labrador and disc issues or ear infections common to the Basset Hound.
