Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Luna is looking for her forever home! Beautiful lady Luna, 11 years old but does not act like a senior, she still feels like she can keep up with you! Luna is amazing with older kids and adults. She does like to give kisses, so we would recommend older kids for her, she hasn't had a lot of experience with small children. She loves her squeaky toys and will try sharing them with her people. Not giving her enough love? She’ll just climb into your lap and nudge your hand until you to continue to pet her. A typical day for Luna includes some running outside. Once Luna is tired from running, she wants to hang out with you on the couch and snuggle. Luna wants to be touching her people at all times! The best home for Luna is one where she can be the only pet. She has done well with the neighbors senior small dogs but foster has not exposed her to large dogs. She is a definite No to cats and has a pretty intense prey drive. She has shown zero aggression towards people at any time – she absolutely loves everyone she meets. A fenced in yard for Luna would also be best as she loves to run laps outside! Her foster has a 4' fence and with her age she prances but don't think she can jump it anymore if she sees something interesting on the other side. Luna was at one point crate trained but her foster doesn't use one and she is fine with out it and doesn't get into anything when she is left alone and house trained - but as long as the area is dog proofed, she is fine being left out. She may sometimes have resourcing of her toys, so again this is best with no small children in home but her current foster has not seen any of these behaviors. As she has gotten older it seems that she takes to multiple smaller meals is easier for her to digest. If fed too much at one time, she tends to puke it back up. This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
