Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please note this dog is NOT an official Underdog dog, and you will be connected with the person who has the dog. Ryker is a smart Dogs Playing for Life graduate who has now mastered the routine of living in a home while being with a wonderful foster for almost a year, but he unfortunately cannot stay there forever. Ryker must be the only dog in the home. He can be reactive towards other dogs while out but is improving daily with his ongoing training. Ryker also recently complete a 4 week "Feisty Fido" course which focuses on reactivity to other dogs and people. He did great and didn't react toother dogs much at all. Although he did well in those instances, he is not suited to go to dog parks or doggie daycare, and any introductions to other dogs should be done cautiously and preferably with the help of a professional trainer. Ryker likes all people, but he can get a bit mouthy when excited. He is easily redirected with treats. He has no resource guarding tendencies, and he would probably be okay living in a home with older kids. Ryker's ideal day consists of being a loyal shadow, launching his toys around and demanding unlimited head scratches. He does have intermittent limping of different limbs and is on lifelong anti-inflammatory meds. Ryker deserves his forever home. Meet him today! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
