This sweet senior has a gentle, caretaker's heart. She bonds deeply with her people and will happily be your steady, loving shadow. Nana is entering her golden years, and like many seniors, she can sometimes get a little confused or disoriented. She's hoping for a patient, understanding home that will give her comfort, routine, and reassurance when she needs it. In return, she'll give you unconditional love and a calm, devoted companionship that only a senior dog can offer. Independent as well as affectionate, Nana is just as content to nap on the porch or lounge in the yard as she is to enjoy a car ride or a slow stroll. She walks beautifully on leash and loves to take in the world at her own pace. She also gets along well with gentle dogs and would thrive in a quiet, peaceful home where she can feel safe and adored. Sweet Nana joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after she was found as a stray. This is a courtesy listing. More About Anatolian Pyrenees BreedOverview:
The Anatolian Pyrenees is a large guardian hybrid created by crossing the Anatolian Shepherd of Turkey with the Great Pyrenees from the Pyrenees mountains. Known for their impressive size, often weighing between 80–140 pounds, they carry a thick double coat that provides protection in colder climates. Their temperament blends loyalty, independence, and gentleness, making them devoted family companions while retaining strong protective instincts. Although affectionate with children and calm indoors, their guarding nature and need for space make them better suited to rural or suburban homes rather than apartment living. With proper socialization, they coexist well with other pets, but consistent training is essential due to their intelligence and stubborn streak. Common health considerations include hip dysplasia, joint strain, and bloat, typical of giant breeds. Overall, the Anatolian Pyrenees is a gentle yet vigilant dog, ideal for families seeking a devoted protector.
