Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300. Meet Wesley — the sweetest little scruff muffin Wesley is a 3‑year‑old, 13‑lb Yorkie mix and an undeniably adorable bundle of scruff and charm. A perfect housemate Wesley is crate trained, potty trained, and a total gentleman around the house. He’s incredibly affectionate and lives for snuggles — whether he’s curled up beside his foster parents or cozied up with his doggy foster sister. One of his most endearing quirks? He loves to sleep flat on his back, belly up, completely relaxed and trusting. A sensitive soul outdoors Wesley shines in the comfort of home, but the outside world can feel a bit overwhelming. On leash, unfamiliar people and dogs can make him a tiny bit nervous, and he may bark. With gentle redirection, he’s learning to navigate those moments — and he’s already making wonderful progress. Despite his worries, he’s always the first one out the door, tail wagging with enthusiasm. His ideal home Wesley will thrive in a calm, patient household, ideally with another friendly dog who enjoys cuddles, relaxed hangouts, and gentle play. He’s not a match for cats — our boy Wes finds small, fast creatures far too interesting. If you’re looking for a loyal, tenderhearted companion who will adore you, grow with you, and snuggle his way into your heart, Wesley just might be your perfect match. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
