Dog Breed: English Coonhound (short coat). TINA, a red-tick American English , is loving extra groceries! She arrived as a stray a few weeks ago and is loving all she can eat buffet, as she gains a few pounds as becomes the sleek, svelte girl we yearn to see. Tina loves attention, and rather than being focused on avoiding humans, she responds beautifully to treats, attention from the dog walkers, and food. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.

Overview:
The English Coonhound, also known as the American English Coonhound, is a handsome and athletic breed with a rich history rooted in the American South, where they were developed for hunting raccoons and other small game. Physically, they are medium to large-sized dogs, boasting a lean, muscular build, expressive, soulful eyes, and a short, dense coat typically found in redtick, bluetick, tricolor, or bicolored patterns. Temperamentally, English Coonhounds are generally affectionate, good-natured, and intelligent, making them wonderful companions for active families. However, their strong prey drive and characteristic "baying" bark mean they are often not ideal for apartment living and require a secure, fenced yard for their ample exercise needs. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of a predisposition to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems. With proper training and socialization, they can be incredibly loyal and loving additions to the right household.
