Description

Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). My name is Ruby and I am just a year old. I am a pretty black and tan girl who loves people and other dogs. I do not care for cats and can not go to a family that have them. I have a lot of energy, and love to play. Playing is my favorite thing along with eating and short naps! I want to have fun! I need to go to a family who has experience with the needs and energy of a young Doberman and who will have the time and patience to commit to taking me to training. I hope Santa will bring me a forever family for Christmas. I am ready to start a new life. Please go to the rescue website at .doberescue-ne and review the rules and adoption area and then place an application for me if you are interested. All of our dogs are current with all shots, are on heart worm preventative monthly and are neutered/spayed. All dogs are tail docked. All of the above Dobes are pure breed Dobermans unless otherwise noted. We hope you can find a place in your heart and your home for one of our rescue Dobes. Please Note: In most cases we require a fenced yard. We do not place our rescue dogs in homes with very young children (under the age of 8 years). We set these limitations, not because of aggression issues with our dogs, but because Dobermans are generally large, active dogs and can easily knock down, run over or easily trip a small child, causing a serious fall. Also, we reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason. Our adoption area encompasses Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Overview:

The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
