Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle Dog mix, female puppy Maggie is an Australian Cattle Dog, about 7 months old, maybe 27 lbs. Very sweet, friendly and loving! She was found as a stray in Bakersfield. She came right up to the rescuers- no fear at all, just wanting to be helped. She had probably been just recently abandoned. Maggie is getting along well with the resident rescue dogs, and is very respectful of humans. Relationship with cats is unknown. She’s a silly and happy little pup! Maggie will be spayed the first week of January and then will be ready to go to her new home. Maggie is in Templeton, CA More photos and updates: .facebook/media/set/?set=a.1629830991311882&type=3 Interested in Maggie? Please complete an application at: bit.ly/CCHDR_App

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
