Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle Dog mix, male Zion is here! He came from SLO County Animal Services. Normally they don’t need help from us, but Zion had been there a ridiculously long time (relatively speaking). He needed a break while waiting for an adopter…and now he's got it. He is with great fosters, along with their dog and a resident cat to check out Zion’s cat skills. e is Zion was said to be high energy, and so far has walked well on the leash to meet the other dogs here. He is very sweet and clearly was someone’s dog in his past life. Zion is a ACD mix, and is estimated to be 3 years old and weigh 45lbs. Zion is located in Templeton, CA More photos and updates: .facebook/media/set/?set=a.1629640971330884&type=3 Interested in Zion? Please complete an application at: bit.ly/CCHDR_App

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
