Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Shepherd / Mixed. A LOVELY YOUNG LADY: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 39 lbs. Hi, I’m Natalie! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am enjoying my time with the nice volunteers, who spend time with and take great care of me. Now I hear that I’m ready to find a wonderful family of my very own – where I can love and be loved furever! I hope to meet them very soon! I came in heartworm positive, but I'll be treated for that soon and I hope to be with my new family before my treatment starts. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, and I don’t like being restrained, so I think older kids (10 and up) that will follow this guideline will be best – let’s meet if you have kids like this. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m described as a friendly, happy, and very sweet girl who might feel a little nervous at first - my photo shoot had me a bit unsure - but once I get to know you, my pretty personality really shines. I love giving kisses and just need a little extra time to feel comfortable so I can show you how sweet I truly am. Bath time was scary for me, so we did a foam bath on the paw spa floor and I did great – enjoying the petting and I even lifted my paws for wiping. I think I’ll adjust to regular baths once I’m comfortable in the environment. / Energy Level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have mastered the ‘sit’ command so far and I’m looking forward to learning more. / At the MM shelter, I enjoy spending time with the volunteers and the crate is not my favorite place to go back into, but once in it, I have been quiet. / I’ve had very good potty manners on the shelter schedule so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too – and perhaps I won’t need a crate. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love treats, being petted, and just being with my people – sharing quiet, loving moments together is on my favorites list. I also like taking a little extra time to get to know new people. / I’m not a fan of being rushed or restrained and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Since I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, I'm HW positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that in mid-February 2026 and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption please. I hope to be with my family before treatment starts! I was nervous and reacted negatively when being restrained during vetting, so we used a muzzle during that time. I may need it for grooming, too, but we’re not sure yet. I’m a nice dog looking for a wonderful family that will make sure I feel loved and at home! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
