She is a typical medium-energy puppy who loves to play hard with her doggy friends and then curl up on the couch for cuddles. Meredith would do well in nearly any home ready to welcome a puppy and shower her with love. Meredith is friendly with everyone she meets and loves to play with other dogs. She's fostered with other pups and would likely do well with or without a canine sibling. She has done well with the resident cat in her foster home and peacefully coexists with them. Meredith has interacted well with children of all ages and would thrive in a home with kids. She loves running around outside with her dog friends and playing with toys inside before settling in for snuggle time. Meredith is a smart girl who is food motivated and eager to learn. As a typical pup, she is working on mastering her basic commands and is picking things up quickly. She is working on her crate and house training and will improve with time, structure, and consistency. She is learning her leash manners and will gain more confidence with each walk. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
