Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Rome! Hi there! My name is Rome, and I'm an approximately 2-year-old male Blue Heeler mix with a big heart and a love for people. I was surrendered when my previous family was no longer able to care for me, but I'm ready to start my next chapter with a family who appreciates affection over fetch. I'm a social, happy boy who isn't really into toys—I'd much rather soak up attention, enjoy good company, and relax in a comfy bed or pile of blankets. I keep my kennel clean and appear to be potty trained, which means I'm already off to a great start in a home environment. I haven't been tested with other dogs yet, so a meet-and-greet is essential if you have pets at home to make sure everyone is comfortable. My adoption fee is $125, and I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination and DHPP booster, and heartworm negative. If you're looking for a friendly companion who runs on love and cozy naps, I might just be your guy. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
